Two Working Groups Embody Major Standards Initiative from Open AXIS Group

Toronto — November 28, 2011 — As the Distribution 2.0 movement continues to gain momentum, the Open AXIS Group is launching a major standards initiative, culminating in two working groups, Desktop 2.0 and Customer-Centric Meta-Search.

This Customer-Centric Search and Response Initiative aims to define the practices and standards required to integrate multiple content sources into a single, seamless, flexible, and transparent desktop that allows airline suppliers to sell their product the way they want to through the agency channel. The initiative will be broken down into two distinctive member-only working groups tasked with addressing standards for two crucial third-party distribution channels.

The Desktop 2.0 Working Group, previously announced in March, will be hosted by Allied Member HitchHiker and focus on the display and selling requirements of both airlines and travel agencies seeking to offer a broader selection of today’s products and services.

The benefits of a search response direct to a market segment of one will be the focal point of the Customer-Centric Meta-Search Working Group hosted by Allied Member Hipmunk.

Jim Young, Executive Director of Open AXIS Group, stated, “The output of these two Working Groups will be a consensus on a clear set of business requirements and the associated XML messages that will allow members to develop innovative solutions to the benefit of the entire industry while closing the costly distribution gap.”
